Express Entry, the new federal program aimed at matching economic immigrants with jobs in Canada is having difficulties getting the attention of the group it is designed to help.


The Immigrant Investor Venture Capital (IIVC) Pilot Program has reopened. CIC will accept applications from May 25 to December 30, 2015, and will process the first 60 complete applications. CIC will also accept up to 60 additional applications that will be placed on a waiting list. The program may close earlier if 60 immigrant investors are approved for permanent residence, or once 60 applications are in processing and 60 applications are on the waiting list.


Prime Minister directed Canadian immigration to stop processing one of the most vulnerable classes of Syrian refugee.

Quebec is seeking a delay on the changes to the Temporary Foreign Worker Program, but the federal government does not appear to be willing to agree, which would make it harder for Quebec businesses to fill an urgent labour shortage with temporary foreign workers.


Economic Action Plan 2015 proposes to provide $15.7 million over five
years, starting in 2015–16, to expand eligibility for the Electronic
Travel Authorization to low-risk travellers from Brazil, Bulgaria,
Mexico and Romania to make it easier and faster for legitimate
travellers from these countries to come to Canada.

Quebec Business Programs will now reopen from April 1, 2015.  There is a limited quota for the programs and therefore it is recommended you start preparing early.


Thinking of business immigration? Saskatchewan just re-opened their entrepreneur category.


There will be no caps or quotas. Minimum $500,000 CAD in net business and personal assets. Invest a minimum of $300,000 (CAD) in Regina and Saskatoon or a minimum of $200,000 (CAD) in all other Saskatchewan communities. Minimum of 3 years of entrepreneurial experience within the 10 years. Language test is not mandatory.
